Overview of the study plan

The model learning track in the interuniversity Master of Science in Physical Land Resources: Land Resources Engineering (120 ECTS), includes 3 modules:
- Compulsory courses (53 ECTS)
- Elective courses (37 ECTS)
- Master thesis (30 ECTS)
Each of the modules has to be successfully completed by the student to obtain the diploma. The student has to respect all registration requirements. For each (sub)module is shown to which year of the full-time standard learning track (year 1 or year 2) the courses belong. It is strongly recommended to follow the standard learning track (first year 1, then year 2) and to add the courses to the study plan taking into account the level of the course: first introducing courses, then advanced and finally specialised courses.
The course curriculum of the first year of the standard learning track in Land Resources Engineering is organised at the Ghent University, whereas all courses of the main subject in Land Resources Engineering of the second year of this track are organised at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

Compulsory Courses MA Physical Land Resources: Land Resources Engineering

This module is made up of 53 ECTS of compulsory courses: 38 ECTS common compulsory courses and 15 ECTS Land Resources Engineering specialisation courses. These courses belong to the 1st year of the model learning track. These courses are taught at the Ghent University.

Elective Courses MA Physical Land Resources: Land Resources Engineering

Students must successfully complete at least 37 ECTS of electives.
This module includes three sets of electives:
- one with specific electives in Land Resources Engineering for the 1st year
- one with specific electives in Land Resources Engineering for the 2nd year
- one with elective courses of the Soil Science specialization, that are also eligible for students of the Land Resources Engineering track in the 2nd year.

Students must select:
- at least 7 ECTS and at most 8 ECTS from the Module electives 'Land Resources Engineering - 1st year' in the 1st year of the model learning track (MA1)
- at least 19 ECTS and up to 30 ECTS from the Module electives 'Land Resources Engineering - 2nd year' in the 2nd year of the model learning track (MA2)
- not more than 10 ECTS from the list of electives form the Module electives 'Soil Science - 2nd year' in the 2nd year of the model learning track (MA2)

Provided approval by the Curriculum Board of Physical Land Resources, students are also allowed to exchange not more than 10 ECTS of the required 37 ECTS of electives, for courses from other master programs (VUB and/or UGent). Students who want to register for such courses must first contact their faculty secretariat. The student's choice must always be approved by the Curriculum Board of Physical Land Resources. Students can register for elective courses provided they have already successfully accomplished at least 20 ECTS of common compulsory courses of the master program.

To complete this module, students must obtain 37 ECTS credits.
