Analysis of Biological Data (4007700FNR) is a prerequisite Students who enroll in this course, are required to have a score of 16/20 or higher for the specific courses for which they will provide teaching assistance. The students, furthermore, need permission from the course titular and the chair of the educational board to become a tutor for a specific course. They have the right to reject requests based on the needs that can change on a yearly basis. Course Content

In this course, we provide a select set of talented students the opportunity to join the teaching team for some our courses. Requirements are that the student must have followed the relevant course in the past and received a high mark (min. 16/20). The responsible course titular must also confirm that a tutorship position is available and the chairperson of the Educational Board of the MSc in Biology must approve. The number of tutoring positions may vary from year to year and from course to course depending on ad hoc needs.

Learning Outcomes

General competences

The student will:  

  • get practical experience with teaching undergraduate students under the guidance of an experienced professor and/or practical assistant. 

  • get practical experience with the development and improvement of a curriculum and associated learning activities.   

  • gain a deeper understanding of a specific course and associated research field far beyond the minimal requirements students need to to pass a specific course.  

The practical didactic skills acquired, and associated experience will help a student to apply for teaching positions, both in schools and at higher institutes of education (e.g. position of practical assistant).

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:

Within the Other Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Other Exam with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 100% of the final mark.

Assessment will be based on: 

  • Permanent evaluation by the course titular (70 %) 

  • A written report (30 %)
