Offer 1 with catalog number 4023176FNR for all students in the 1st semester at a (F) Master - specialised level.
The Master 2 course depends on an individual project on a current topic of research in chemistry, the application of the research plan proposed in the Master 1 course being central. The course aims to independently address the scientific problem through advanced scientific research in the field of chemistry. The results of this research and decision-making are recorded in a scientific report and presented and defended in front of a scientific panel. The scientific panel is composed of 5 members; The jury members are two fixed members who evaluate all reports (each with 12.5 % of the weight in the total score), the promotor (50 % weight in the total score) and two (external) specialist jury members (each with 12.5 % of the weight in the total score).
.
The student can conduct advanced scientific research on an independent basis.
The student can adjust the objectives of an original research plan on the basis of partial results in order to obtain the desired insights and results.
The student can come to a decision based on a whole of research results that offers an answer to the original scientific questions.
The student can write down all the objectives, research results and decision making in a written report.
The student can clarify and defend research results and decision-making in a scientific discussion with researchers who are directly or less directly familiar with the research topic.
The student can make his own research results clear to a wider audience with scientific interest.
The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Master Thesis determines 100% of the final mark.
Within the Master Thesis category, the following assignments need to be completed:
Evaluation at the end of the semester
Evaluation methods for periodic evaluation during the first examination period
Written reporting, oral exam
Evaluation methods for period aligned evaluation in the second examination period
