Course Content

Students translate texts on various topical and/or cultural subjects from Spanish into Dutch. Each type of text has its own specific properties. Students learn to use the internet effectively to produce accurate and idiomatic translations. They must be able to justify their translation choices on the basis of reliable sources, parallel texts, contexts or definitions. Students also learn to critically assess and edit (machine) translations.

  • Students are able to translate Spanish source texts into correct Dutch using relevant (digital) tools.
  • Students can analyse the intrinsic characteristics of a text in the foreign language using relevant (digital) tools.
  • Students use reliable sources and can refer to these appropriately.
  • Students can critically assess translations.
  • Students can motivate their own translation choices.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Written exam with a relative weight of 100 which comprises 100% of the final mark.
