Course Content

On basis of the handbook of R. Grant "Foundations of Strategy" and a number of core publications, several aspects of strategy, from the foundation to the implementation will be critically and thoroughly discussed. Particular attention will be drawn to research outlines such as bounded rationality and reliability, portfolio analysis for competitive strategy, analysis of competitive advantages and so on, that will be profoundly dealt with during theory classes as well as exercise sessions.

Learning Outcomes

General competencies

This course aims first to provide students with a critical perspective on several concepts of strategy by ways of research papers and recent research insights. The student should be able to understand and critically discuss these concepts and to apply them into business situations.

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Written Exam with a relative weight of 100 which comprises 100% of the final mark.

    Note: The grade for this course is determined on a written, individual, closed book exam with open and/or multiple choice questions. There is no facultative oral exam.
