1. Introduction to high-energy Universe: astrophysical objects & observational methods

2. Gas dynamics, accretion flows, Bondi accretion, Roche lobe overflow & accretion discs

3. Radiation mechanisms: Bremsstrahlung, synchrotron & inverse Compton radiation

4. Supernova remnants, astrophysical shocks & particle acceleration

Algemene competenties

1. Knowlegde of the astrophysical objects and observational methods of the high-energy Universe.

2. Understanding of gas dynamics, accretion flows and shocks.

3. Understanding of Bremstrahlung, synchrotron emission and Inverse Compton scattering in an astrophysical context.

4. Understanding of particle acceleration in astrophysical shocks

 

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Oral Exam determines 75% of the final mark.
LEC Presentation determines 25% of the final mark.

Within the Oral Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Oral exam with a relative weight of 75 which comprises 75% of the final mark.

Within the LEC Presentation category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Presentation with a relative weight of 25 which comprises 25% of the final mark.
