Algemene competenties

The course is meant as an introduction to the technological principles and applications of electricity, electronics and photonics. Within this course, a short overview of the broad domain of electricity, electronics and photonics is given with the intention to convey to the student an understanding of the operation, possibilities and the importance of electric, electronic and photonic technologies and their applications, which are introduced through technological examples.

The student is expected to have a mainly qualitative insight in the basic operation and applications of electricity, electronics and photonics.

An English-Dutch glossary with the most important terms is included on Canvas which can help in understanding the course material.

Beoordelingsinformatie

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:

Written Exam determines 100% of the final mark. Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Electricity/Electronics with a relative weight of 66 which comprises 66% of the final mark.
  • Photonics with a relative weight of 34 which comprises 34% of the final mark.

Additional info regarding evaluation

Written exam, open book. Only course material on paper is allowed for the open book exam. Part I (electricity, electronics) counts for 66%, Part II (photonics) is 34% in the end-result.
