Course Content

This course will focus on following aspects
- Description of the life cycles of parasites, that cause serious health problems, and their interaction with the immune system
- The actual diagnosis and treatment of parasitic infections including their shorthcomings
- The future biotechnological approaches in the detection and therapy of parasitic infections.

To compile published data on a particular parasite and be able to present scientific conclusions in the context of host-parasite interactions in an oral presentation

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Oral Exam determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the Oral Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Oral exam with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 100% of the final mark.

    Note: The students choose one research article (recently published in a high impact journal) connected to subjects discussed in the course. They have to present the essentials of the article and be able to critically discuss the main message of the article. Furthermore their general knowledge acquired during the course and related to the chosen topic will be assessed during the examination.
