Course Content

This course builds on the Ba course unit Identity(s)' and offers an in-depth exploration of current themes and perspectives on humanization from the question of migration and hospitality.

Central to the course is the work of French anthropologist Miche Agier and his fieldwork in 'camps'. What does this say about how we in Europe and the US deal with refugees and asylum seekers?

To what extent do they represent the dark side of a particular form of cosmopolitanism?

This theme is then further extended to the topic of borders, migration and hospitality.
