Course Content

CONTENT: Overview of the most important diseases (viral, bacterial, fungal, protozoal and helminthic) and their symptoms Basic principles of identification and diagnosis Interrelations of infectious agents with the host (distribution and contamination, pathogenesis and resistance).

SELF-STUDY: The students are expected to investigate a specific infectious disease diagnostic, therapeutic or control problem related to the country of origin of the student (and not related to their dissertation).

The student has a good knowledge of and insight in the major infectious diseases (viral, bacterial, fungal, protozoal, helmintic), their symptoms and how to diagnose them

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
LEC Presentation determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the LEC Presentation category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Presentation in class with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 100% of the final mark.

    Note: EVALUATION PROCEDURE : The exam comprises the presentation of an infectious disease that is a main problem in the country of origin of the student. After the presentation, questions are asked by the lecturer and the classmates.
