1. the master in political science has a profound knowledge of concepts and important theories from one or more subdomains of political science (local, national, and international politics; and/or European institutions and society; and/or political analysis, theory, and philosophy) and can place these in the international political science literature,

2. the master in political science can observe and understand developments in one or more subdomains of political science (local, national, and international politics; and/or European institutions and society; and/or political analysis, theory, and philosophy) independently,
3. the master in political science can use political science terminology to capture societal change and problems and translate these into a political science research questions; (s)he can do this independently,
4. the master in political science can choose the appropriate methods to answer political science research questions independently,
5. the master in political science can construct a research design and identify the necessary steps in a research plan independently,
6. the master in political science can execute a research design to answer a political science research question in a scientific manner independently,
