Master of Arts in het tolken – één hoofdtaal
1) Module I Academische vaardigheden – verplicht

In deze module van 30 ECTS staan zowel het onderzoek als de stage binnen de tolkwetenschap centraal.
Tolkwetenschap is de wetenschappelijke discipline die zich toelegt op de studie van tolken (zowel proces- als productgericht onderzoek). Studenten verwerven inzichten in belangrijke theoretische stromingen, probleemstellingen, onderzoeksvragen en -methodologieën binnen deze discipline. Aan de hand van hun verworven kennis en praktische onderzoeksgerelateerde vaardigheden zijn ze in staat om, onder begeleiding van een promotor, een onderzoek uit te voeren dat verband houdt met tolken. Het onderzoek mondt uit in een masterproef waarmee studenten aantonen dat ze de eindcompetenties van de Master of Arts in het Tolken in voldoende mate hebben verworven.
Studenten verwerven binnen deze module ook inzichten in interculturele communicatieve vaardigheden.

Deze module bevat een verplicht cursuspakket van 27 ECTS waarin studenten tolk- en vertaalvaardigheden oefenen en die leren toepassen in verschillende beroepsfuncties op de tolkmarkt, zoals sociaal tolken, juridisch tolken en audiovisueel tolken. studenten verwerven ook kennis en praktische vaardigheden om zich gespecialiseerde terminologie eigen te maken en oplossingen te vinden voor de vertaling van terminologie. En doen binnen deze module ook praktische ervaring op met de tolkpraktijk via een verplichte stage.
Studenten dienen voor één taal te kiezen van 18 ECTS.
