Course Content

The seminar strives to sharpen theoretical insights, critical reflection and analytical skills concerning media theory and media philosophy. The seminar aims to read and discuss authors that have been inspiring and prominent for the overall theme of media theory and media philosophy. The focus is on contemporary theoreticians, especially from 1960 onwards.

Additional info

At the start of the seminar, references will be given to the texts that will be discussed. All participants are asked to prepare each meeting by close reading and every participant will be asked to introduce at least one meeting.

General competencies

Students are able to critically dissect and discuss authors and themes concerned. They are able to independently write and compile a research paper.

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:

Evaluation consist of:

-collaboration during the meetings

-one introduction of the meeting

-a scientific paper (2000-3000 words) that is closely linked to the author(s) that have been discussed.
