Course Content

Continuation of the learning process in Italian language based on the simultaneous acquisition of communication skills, vocabulary and grammar. The learning process starts from the study of text, audio or video-fragments, which focus more on cultural and societal topics in comparison with Lingua italiana II. These materials are elaborated upon by means of targeted communication and grammar exercises, in particular on the use of tenses and the construction of compound sentences.

Assessment

 

First examination period

 

Written exam (40%): assessment of reading, listening and writing skills as well as of grammatical skills.

 

Oral exam (30%): assessment of reading and speaking skills. The oral exam is an individual assignment on an Italian contemporary  topic.

 

Assessment throughout the semester (30%): periodic vocabulary tests (15%) and a written interim exam during the January session (15%). Students with an average score of at least 18/30 are exempted in the case of a re-examination during the August - September examination period.

 

Second examination period

 

The assessment is identical to the one used during the first examination period, except that students not exempted from the assessment throughout the semester will take the vocabulary test (15%) together with the written exam.

 

 

 

Students are able to understand non-specialised texts and audio-visual messages in connection with the studied domains and cultural topics without great effort. They are capable of summarising these documents in simple words and of expressing their opinion in short, yet coherent talks or texts by using current expressions and an appropriate vocabulary. Students are also capable of putting the studied grammar into practice in diverse contexts without making obvious mistakes.

 

Target level: B1 of the Common European Framework for Languages for the oral skills/C1 for reading, writing and listening.

 

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Oral Exam determines 50% of the final mark.
Written Exam determines 50% of the final mark.

Within the Oral Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Mondelinng examen with a relative weight of 50 which comprises 50% of the final mark. This is a mid-term test.

Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • WrittenExam with a relative weight of 50 which comprises 50% of the final mark. This is a mid-term test.
