Inhoud

This course introduces some of the main approaches, concepts and debates in International Political Economy (IPE), by situating and analyzing them in salient issues in contemporary International Relations.

A syllabus is distributed on Canvas outlining 3-4 articles and/or book chapters to be read before each class.

180 min. sessions per week. Generally, the first 80 minutes will comprise of a lecture on that day’s specific topic, conducted by the course convener or an invited guest speaker. We then take a break of 10 mins to refresh. The remaining 90 minutes will comprise of student discussion and smaller group exercises (see the syllabus for activities assigned each week). You are expected to come to class prepared with questions and comments related to the assigned readings.

  • Analyse IPE with themes of International Relations underlined in the syllabus;

  • Evaluate the impact of IPE in world politics.

Beoordelingsinformatie

De beoordeling bestaat uit volgende opdrachtcategorieën:
Examen Schriftelijk bepaalt 80% van het eindcijfer

Examen Praktijk bepaalt 20% van het eindcijfer

Binnen de categorie Examen Schriftelijk dient men volgende opdrachten af te werken:

  • Schriftelijk Examen met een wegingsfactor 100 en aldus 80% van het totale eindcijfer.

Binnen de categorie Examen Praktijk dient men volgende opdrachten af te werken:

  • Groepsopdracht met een wegingsfactor 100 en aldus 20% van het totale eindcijfer.

Aanvullende info mbt evaluatie

  • Engage in a critical dialogue and reflection based on the assigned texts, articles, book chapters and current affairs;

  • Actively participate in discussions, based on class readings;

  • Students are expected to participate in class discussions with their peers and engage with the material at hand, either in individual format or when assigned to group projects. Each class will start with a 5 minutes discussion on contemporary events related to IPE. Students are expected to follow the debates around the world related to IPE.
