Course Content

During the first week of the academic year, students have the opportunity to practice a number of professional and academic competencies that will prepare them for further education and the professional field. Specifically, students are given five days of workshops, lectures, assignments and study material within a number of predefined themes:

  • Tools and methods in order search scientific literature
  • Characteristics of scientific and academic Dutch
  • Time management
  • Group dynamics and collaboration
  • Receiving and ginving feedback

Algemene competenties

  • Knowledge regarding tools and methods to search scientific literature
  • Knowledge regarding writing a scientific text in academic Dutch
  • Knowing how to plan effectively: making arrangements, planning assignments, estimating time necessary for an assignment, ..
  • Having knowledge regarding group dynamic processes and effective collaboration
  • Having knowlegde regarding giving and receiving feedback

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Other Exam determines 50% of the final mark.
SELF Paper determines 50% of the final mark.

Within the Other Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Presence with a relative weight of 50 which comprises 50% of the final mark.

Within the SELF Paper category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Report with a relative weight of 50 which comprises 50% of the final mark.
