SELF Paper determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the SELF Paper category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • schriftelijk examen with a relative weight of 100 which comprises 100% of the final mark.

Additional info regarding evaluation

The thesis must be submitted at the beginning of December (first semester) or June (second semester) (first examination period) or mid-February (first semester) or mid-August (second semester) (second examination period). The oral defense takes place at the end of June or beginning of September respectively. The defense is public. This means that the date, place and subject of each defense will be displayed ad valvas and that everyone interested can be present and ask questions.

Depending on the subject of the thesis, the juries are composed of the teachers of the plastic surgery course and possibly external referees.

The assessment of the thesis is done by a jury (the composition of which is approved by the Education Board) on the basis of 4 criteria in which, depending on the criterion, both the promoter, the chairman and all other jury members have a say. The weight coefficients for each criterion are:

1. The technical-scientific content, with emphasis on personal work:

Promoter coefficient: 0.3

Coefficient of other jury members: 0.2

2. The personal commitment and attitude of the student while working in the research group:

Coefficient promoter and supervisor: 0.2

3. The written presentation of the work (language, design, figures, bibliography, etc.): Coefficient of all jury members: 0.15

4. The oral presentation during the defense (attitude, language, clarity of explanation, answering questions and the like):

Coefficient of all jury members: 0.15
