Course Content

The program includes a practical training module with feedback from facilitators. During this period, students will be involved in clinical cases in plastic surgery focused on wound care and assist in surgery, following preoperative and postoperative clinics. They will present cases to the other students and faculty to clarify doubts and evaluate the surgery & wound care treatment. Highlights are:

  • Flaps on lower limbs: mobilisation protocol, compression therapy, orthopaedic multidisciplinary meetings, …

Learning Outcomes

Algemene competenties

The intended learning outcomes are situated in the organizational area of a department of plastic surgery, multidisciplinary consultation, intervention planning and preparation; as in a practical field with different surgical techniques and decision trees for treatment choice in the above mentioned domains. There is also a scientific part in which critical evaluation of scientific literature is taught, as is the writing & publishing of a scientific article.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Schriftelijk examen with a relative weight of 100 which comprises 100% of the final mark.

Additional info regarding evaluation

An exam is taken after completing the theoretical and practical sessions of the course concerned. Students have the opportunity to resit orally after a purely written exam if they wish (faculty exam regulations). If the student was unlawfully absent during the practical sessions, he may receive a score of 0/20 for this, which will be settled in the final grade or, where appropriate, refused to participate in the practical exam (faculty examination regulations).
