Learning Pathway Professional Practice
In this course unit, students start with 2 hours of co-teaching for moral studies didactics. The form of co-teaching depends on the needs of the situation. Subsequently, a supervised practice internship for professional didactics in moral sciences is transferred to a supervised practice internship. Students design lessons (7h) which they also carry out in class practice, in the presence of the mentor.
For students with LIO status: in-service internship of 28 hours (and if applicable pre-service or alternative internship). If the assignment volume is between 200 and 499 teaching hours, the student may not be able to perform sufficient unique teaching hours for this course unit. In that case, additional assignments from the regular track will be given in proportion to the missing hours. In cases where the LIO student has no or insufficient teaching assignment within the field of this course unit, an additional assignment is given from the regular track , i.e. guided practice internship. Here the student designs lessons that are carried out in classroom practice, in the presence of the mentor.
Learning Pathway Pedagogical Content Knowledge
The students learn about the development of the course ‘non-denominational ethics’, the specificity of this course and the postion of it within the cluster of ‘philosophies of life’ (in casu, the religions), the operationalisation of the interreligious competences and to enthuse for the awareness of the personal worldview in an ethical perspective. The student thoroughly studies the requirements for a successful start of his pupils in higher education. Students develop worksheets and know how to evaluate those.

The student knows how to find relevant and trustworthy sources to use in the context of non-denominational ethics (NDE). The student knows the development of the course NDE from the perspective of liberal humanism, can locate the course within the field of related courses, knows how to connect with those and how to establish this with pupils, and can in that context carefully testify to his / her commitment to liberal humanism. The student can process the inter-religious competences into teaching methods to enter into and deepen the inter-religious dialogue. The student makes the connection between meaningfulness and philosophy of life. The student knows how to deal with the pupils from within their own worldviews, in particular the ethical component. The student can make the pupils aware of their own ethical position. The student knows how to activate an ethical awareness among the pupils in the context of active citizenship. The student knows the specific needs and limitations of student evaluation in the context of non-denominational ethics. The student can prepare his / her pupils for higher studies.
The student shows an open, inquisitive and professional attitude.
