Course Content

The student, in conjunction with his / her promoter (who acts as a training supervisor), shall draw up a

training plan for both course units, and has it approved by the program board after substantive screening

by the instructor-in-charge of the course. The instructor-in-charge of the course enlightens students on

the setup and related formalities of the training periods. The promoter scrutinizes the actual content of

the training courses; which may consist of, on the one hand, a combination of the collection and analysis

of their own research data and on the other hand, attending specialized workshops, symposia, seminars, journal clubs, short stay in an external or international research group, etc. The student keeps his / her

internship activities in a personal research portfolio, which is judged by both the promoter (with a focus

on attitude and learning trajectory) and the instructor-in-charge of the course (on content). Intermediate

progress meetings are held with the student, teacher and promoter.

Additional info regarding evaluation

Continuous/permanent evaluation: the student keeps his / her internship activities in a personal research portfolio, which is judged by both the promoter for 50% (the focus on attitude, learning trajectory and content) and the teaching staff of the course 50% (learning progress).

The internship portfolio should be submitted at the end of the internship at the first week of the examination period (cfr the faculty examination reglement) and should contain a collection of documents that thoroughly document the work the student has done and the knowledge and skills he/she has acquired as an intern. The portfolio must be formatted according to the guidelines available through the online learning platform.

The student will be expected to write a progression report on the internship experience on a monthly base. It is mandatory that students provide evidence of their attendance and performance, indicating that they completed the contracted hours and evaluating their performance.

The promotor should provide an evaluation of the internship experience at the end of the internship. He:she should also comment on the initial training plan and explain eventual divergence of the internship work from the plan.
