Course Content
  • Introduction to health systems thinking, including relevance of cultural context.
  • Introduction to transitions in low- and middle-income countries, and to their impact on disease and on the health system.
  • Health problems of ageing populations in low- and middle-income countries, with special focus on the growing burden of chronic diseases.

KNOWLEDGE

The student acquires knowledge on understanding a health system, including relevance of cultural context, and on tackling chronic diseases in the elderly in a particular context

INSIGHT

The student gains insight on how to apply a health system framework and a chronic disease framework

SKILLS

The student improves his/her skills to find relevant scientific information on a specific health problem of the elderly, is able to apply this to a specific cultural context and present it in a short oral presentation.
