Course Content

This course will focus on the core elements of academic writing for business.  We will cover issues of structure, argumentation, critical thinking, style, register, and decorum. The course will meet weekly for two hours and, due to the emphasis on in-class exercise, attendance is strongly recommended.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
PRAC Practical Assignment determines 30% of the final mark.
PRAC Paper determines 40% of the final mark.
Other determines 30% of the final mark.

Within the PRAC Practical Assignment category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • external writing assignments with a relative weight of 3 which comprises 30% of the final mark.

Within the PRAC Paper category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Written Exam - final paper with a relative weight of 4 which comprises 40% of the final mark.

Within the Other category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • in-class assignments with a relative weight of 3 which comprises 30% of the final mark.
