Digital storytelling

1/ Intro: What is digital storytelling?
2/ Mobile journalism
3/ Presenting and explaining information using online tools (data, graphics, explainers)
4/ Creating immersive experiences online (podcasting, VR/AR)
5/ Engaging users online (webdocs, crowdsourcing, news games)
6/ Practicing digital storytelling

It is recommended to bring a laptop and/or smartphone for in-class use.

Eindcompetenties

Students:

- know the affordances of digital storytelling as well as recent developments in the field
- are able to tell a digital story with text, audio and images
- know which tools to use in the production process
- are able to use a smartphone to create a journalistic story
- know how to adapt a story to different publishing platforms and media
- know which platforms are available to publish their story
- know how to practice digital storytelling independently

Within the Other Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Permanente evaluatie/Werkstuk with a relative weight of 100 which comprises 100% of the final mark.

Additional info regarding evaluation

Continuous assessment through assignments in which students acquire and learn to apply digital storytelling techniques. In a final, comprehensive assignment, students need to integrate the acquired skills in the production of a digital story.
