Students must have taken 'Città e spazio nella letteratura italiana ', before they can enroll in this course. Enrolling for this course, means that you simultaneously take 'Literature and intermediality' or have successfully passed it. If you are enrolled in a preparatory programme you can register this course without restrictions.

Course Content

Predominately a reading of classic Italian authors, from the 14th to 20th century.
-    14th century: Dante Alighieri, Commedia (extracts) and narrative poetry.
-    19th-20th century: author and work to be determined.

Vengono affrontati prevalentemente scrittori classici della letteratura italiana, dal Trecento al Novecento.

- Trecento: Dante Alighieri, Commedia (un insieme di canti) e la poesia narrativa.

- Ottocento-Novecento:  scrittore da definire.

Additional info

Students are expected to complete weekly preparation of texts and assignments. These are always discussed during the lectures.

The seminars can also include four hours given by an international guest lecturer.

General competencies

The students can characterize and analyse classic Italian literature from a linguistic, rhetorical, metrical or narratological and thematic perspective.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Oral Exam determines 40% of the final mark.
Practical Exam determines 10% of the final mark.
Other Exam determines 50% of the final mark.

Within the Oral Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Examen tekstverklaring-lectuur with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 40% of the final mark.

Within the Practical Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Voorbereiding en medewerking with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 10% of the final mark.

Within the Other Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Examen teksten-oefeningen with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 50% of the final mark.

Additional info regarding evaluation

Weekly attendance in the lectures is required and will be evaluated.

Students have to succeed in all parts of the evaluation procedure in order to obtain a pass mark for the whole course.

Student who fail to participate in all the parts of the evaluation procedure will be automatically marked as "absent".

Students can transfer to the next exam session the results of those parts of the evaluation process for which they have obtained a pass mark. These result can not be transferred to the following academic year.

At the oral exam, the students are granted with preparation time
