Offer 2 with catalog number 1020822ANR for all students in the 2nd semester at a (A) Bachelor - preliminary level.
Through the study of texts by three fundamental figures in the history of Western and Eastern philosophy (Confucius, Aristotle and Averroes) in this course students learn and practice the skills they need to read and analyse philosophical texts thoroughly.
In the lectures, the professor offers a historical and systematic introduction to the thinking of these three philosophers as well as an introduction to methodological strategies for reading and critically analyzing philosophical literature.
In the practical exercises sessions: i) students read and analyse the compulsory literature in groups and under the guidance of the lecturer; ii) students discuss in plenary the central ideas of the compulsory literature; iii) students give a group presentation on the compulsory literature.

- Under the guidance of the teacher, students can reconstruct the argumentative structure of the chosen philosophical texts.
- Students can reproduce the argumentative structure of the chosen philosophical texts and explain it in their own words.
- Students can use solid arguments to position themselves critically against arguments that are dealt with in the compulsory literature.
- Students can assess each other in a constructive way.
The final grade is composed based on the following categories:

Within the Other category, the following assignments need to be completed:
First session: WPO Group work (peer assessment, process) 25% and WPO Presentation (product) 75%. Each group gets 20 minutes to present. Afterwards the teacher will ask a number of questions. Peer-assessment is done electronically.
Second session: written exam 100%.
