REGULAR PROGRAMME
By means of a range of tasks, this course aims to equip students with the skills and strategies necessary to interpret reading materials in English and communicate effectively in writing. Firstly, the course focuses on reading, analysing and understanding written texts and/or audio-visual material, related to the field of criminology. Criminological vocabulary is tackled in class to help students improve their reading skills. Secondly, the course focuses on email and essay writing in English. The former is an essential skill to communicate effectively in an academic context and the latter is addressed to practise analysing source materials and voicing opinions. Additionally, common grammar mistakes will be addressed to aid the students in their writing process.

Registered working students will be required to complete the same tasks as regular students. Detailed instructions will be provided via the online learning platform.

Students who have not participated in both assessment components for this course (continuous assessment and written exam) are not able to pass this course in the first exam session.
In the second examination period, assessment for this course is based on a written exam only (100%).
Bijkomende informatie wordt aangereikt aan het begin van het semester en via het online leerplatform.
Studenten die niet hebben deelgenomen aan beide evaluatiecomponenten (permanente evaluatie en schriftelijk examen) kunnen niet slagen voor dit vak in de eerste zittijd.
In de tweede zittijd baseert de evaluatie zich enkel op het schriftelijk examen (100%).
