We then consider concepts such as felicitous interaction, footing, hedging and implicature. Hallidayan transitivity analysis, naming analysis, the analysis of deixis and the use of pronouns are also tested for their value in discourse analysis.  Argumentation, evidentiality and the use of metaphor are introduced.
