To provide entry-level understanding of the cellular consequences of genetic and/or acquired changes in the intra- or extracellular milieu, with emphasis on the mechanisms that allow cellular adaptations avoiding cellular damage and mechanisms that promote this. Starting from this basis it is discussed how biochemical and morphological assays can provide information on the molecular and cellular (physio)pathology. The course is essential for understandig mechanisms of disease, clinical diagnosis and formulating research goals in biomedical research.
