Offer 1 with catalog number 1016983ANR for all students in the 1st semester at a (A) Bachelor - preliminary level.
In the module examination and treatment I the students train themselves in expert palpation techniques of the posture and movement apparatus with a view to future professional practice. The emphasis is on clinically important bone points, joint lines, ligaments, accessible musculature, as well as the location of deeper structures in relation to superficial structures. In connection with the spinal column, the emphasis is on the precise location of the movement segments and a number of muscles that are attached to them.
All the structures to be learned are provided digitally via Canvas in the form of film material.
In the context of "Blended learning", the student should have prepared the topic of the upcoming lesson before the lesson on the basis of the provided film material.
The student must be present in time in the lab in shorts and a T-shirt. Failure to do so may result in the student being denied access to the lab.
The use of smartphones, tablets, computers, audiovisual material, ... The use of smartphones, tablets, computers, audiovisual material, etc. is not allowed during the lessons. Unless approved by the teacher and in the context of the lesson (viewing digital learning material).
- The student has gained the required knowledge and insights in order to palpate the surface anatomy of the musculoskeletal system in a professional way and to visualize and/or localize these anatomical structures through the skin.
- The student has gained the required knowledge and insights in order to localise deeper anatomical structures of the musculoskeletal system in relation to the more superficial anatomical structures.
- The student has gained the required knowledge and insights to precisely localise spinal motion segments.
- The student has gained the required skills in order to palpate the surface anatomy of the musculoskeletal system in a professional way and to visualize and/or localize these anatomical structures through the skin.
- The student has gained the required skills in order to localise deeper anatomical structures of the musculoskeletal system in relation to the more superficial anatomical structures.
- The student is able to precisely localise spinal motion segments.
- The student fulfils the foregoing skills with professional attitudes.
The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Practical Exam determines 100% of the final mark.
Within the Practical Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:
Practical exam in which the students take turns in fulfilling the role of therapist and patient.
Knowledge, insight, skills and attitudes are evaluated in function of the predetermined end competences.
If a student obtains less than 8/20 on at least one of the two parts, no average is made and the lowest grade becomes the final grade. If a student does not pass a course unit but obtained at least 10/20, the result for this unit is transferred to the second term, but not to the next academic year.
