This course pursues several pedagogical values: deal with an architectural project in all its aspects on an independent basis, to investigate and research already acquired knowledge, gather and digest information in function of the project in an independent way
A complex site in Brussels is chosen to investigate all kinds of urban developments and improvements.
Several urban questions inter-relate two programs (each of which developed over 4 months). The first one is relevant to urban planning architecture and aims at developing a “master plan” of the site (first semester, SUSTAINABLE URBAN DESIGN STUDIO). A second one is relevant to architecture and involves, on one hand, the in depth study of a building within the Master Plan, “targeted project “, and on the other hand its technical aspects and choice of materials, the “detailed project” (second semester, SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDIO)
Global objectives of the studio: to create a sustainable architectural and urban complex organism, which entails:
Assignment and documents are handed over when starting the studio.
During the several sessions, powerpoints and additional information will be provided by the teachers in a digital way.
Concerning the assignment the students should independently be able to gather all the information they require in order to achieve their goals.

1. Maturity of global dealing with the project
2. Coherence
3. Ability to communicate concept, methods, strategies in a clear graphical way
4. Completeness of handed in documents.

2. Towards social, economical and cultural issues
3. Towards urban fabric
4. Towards architectural and spatial quality
De beoordeling bestaat uit volgende opdrachtcategorieën:

Binnen de categorie Examen Andere dient men volgende opdrachten af te werken:
The end mark is the result of a permanent evaluation during the semester
30% for an inbetween jury, 60% for the final jury and 10% evolution and year work.
