Course Content

The course concerns 5 subdisciplines of Biological sciences:

  1. General Biology. Micro-organisms, Animals, Plants.
  2. Molecular Biology and Genetics. Origin of life, DNA-technology, GMO’s.
  3. Evolution. To documentate the unifying concept of Biology: Evolution. Historical and modern theories about evolution, processes, hypothesis.
  4. Ecology. Ecosystems: origin, development, abiotic and biotic factors. Analysis of terms as biomass, production, consumption.
  5. Balanced food and food safety.

  • Knowledge of Processes (photosynthesis, cycles) and Reproduction, Classification
  • Knowledge and insights in the courses of Biotechnology in the Master degrees of Commercial Engineer
  • To know how to deal with the actual conversation about evolution
  • To use ecological terms correctly. To implementate ecological terms in Biology and the transmission of this concepts to Commercial Engineer and other disciplines.
  • Being able to implement Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO-norms and HACCP-regulation in the food industry.

 

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Oral Exam determines 75% of the final mark.
Practical Exam determines 25% of the final mark.

Within the Oral Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Oral Exam with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 75% of the final mark.

    Note: The oral examination concerns questions on different biological subject. The exam contents written preparation and oral defence.

Within the Practical Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Paper with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 25% of the final mark.
