At the end of the course, the student’s language proficiency will approach level B1 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Listening
The student can understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. The student can understand the main point of many radio or TV programmes on current affairs or topics of personal or professional interest when the delivery is relatively slow and clear.
Reading
The student can understand texts that consist mainly of high frequency everyday or job-related language. The student can understand the description of events, feelings and wishes in personal letters.
Writing
The student can write simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest. The student can write personal letters describing experiences and impressions.
Spoken production
The student can connect phrases in a simple way in order to describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions. The student can briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans. The student can narrate a story or relate the plot of a book or film and describe emotions and reactions.
Spoken interaction
The student can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. The student can enter unprepared into conversation on topics that are familiar, of personal interest or pertinent to everyday life (e.g. family, hobbies, work, travel and current events).
The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Oral Exam determines 30% of the final mark.
Written Exam determines 60% of the final mark.
Other determines 10% of the final mark.

The final grade is based on a written exam, an oral exam, and continuous assessment. The weight given to these three categories in the overall score is as follows:
In order to obtain a final grade, the student must participate in all three categories: oral exam, written exam and continuous assessment.
In order to pass the course, the student must pass both the oral and the written exam.
Second exam session: The student will retake both the written and the oral exam. The weight given to these categories in the overall score is as follows:
