Course Content

The course studies mathematical concepts and techniques that are useful in economics. The development of (mathematical) skills, needed in other courses of this programme, constitutes the primary goal. We start with a number of important steps to analyse functions, such as, domain, continuity, limits, asymptotes, derivatives and graph. Next, we extensively study integration. We deal with functions with one as well as multiple variables. Furthermore, the course focuses on optimisation subject or not to a condition. We end with a short introduction on sequences and series. All topics are illustrated by means of economic applications.
