Course Content

1) Gynecologic and urologic pathology – H. Cammu– 12u HOC

2) Gynecologic and urologic revalidation –A. Tassenoy – 27u HOC+ WPO

(Patho-)Physiology of the pregnant patient.
Perinatal revalidation
Pelvic floor dysfunction: patho(physiology) of pelvic organs and pelvic floor
Urinary incontinence: diagnosis and revalidation in female, male patients and children
Mandatory assignment: Patient brochure and presentation for colleques concerning a gyneacologic - urologic topic in the last week of the semester. This assignment is necessary to participate the exam and counts for 20% of the total score.

Learning Outcomes

General competencies

Title 'Module Gynaecology and Urology'
Knowledge of 'physiology of pregnancy', with focus on delivery and peripartum care.
Knowledge of indications for 'perinatal physiotherapy' and 'pelvic floor rehabilitation'.

Being able to give instructions and exercises , immediately post partum in the hospital and group sesions afterwards.
Being able to take care of patients suffering from pelvic floor dysfunction using training strategies for pelvic floor rehabilitation.
Knowledge about Evidence Based Medicine related to perinatal PT and pelvic floor rehabilitation.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 30% of the final mark.
Other Exam determines 50% of the final mark.
PRAC Practical Assignment determines 20% of the final mark.

Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

Pathology with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 30% of the final mark.

Within the Other Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

revalidation with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 50% of the final mark.

Note: Theorie en Praktische Oefeningen worden schriftelijk
geëxamineerd, met eventuele mondelinge verderzetting

Within the PRAC Practical Assignment category, the following assignments need to be completed:

assignment with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 20% of the final mark.

Additional info regarding evaluation

With all WPO courses/assignments, attendance is obligatory. If you are illegally absent, you cannot participate in the examination neither in the first term, nor in the second and you will be appointed 0/20 as a result code in both terms.

Part of the exam cannot be taken in second term. The partial result for this part of the exam will be transposed to the second term, with a result of at least 10/20 automatically. A student cannot choose not to have this result transposed. A partial result of the exam, cannot be transposed to the second academic year.

In case of insufficiencies for certain parts, a score lower than 8/20, there will be no calculated mean, but the lowest partial score will count as the final result.

Pathology: Written exam (Prof. H. Cammu) – 30%
Revalidation: Written exam with possibility of oral defence – 50%
