Course Content

CONTENT :The synthetic proteins concerning animal health. Monoclonal antibodies in animal health and production : immunisations against pathogens and peptide-hormones. Recombinant cytokines and their therapeutic importance in animal husbandry. Nucleic acid techniques : applications in the diagnosis of diseases and vaccine development. Nutrigenomics, proteomics. Artificial insemination and embryo transfer.  Transgenic animals. Animal cloning.

Self study: students have to read a paper provided by the lecturers, summarise it in a report and discuss during the oral examination.

  • Exam self study with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 25% of the final mark.

    Note: The student will prepare a written report on a course-related topic, based on a recent research paper provided by the lecturer.
