Learning Outcomes

General competencies

During this course students get acquainted with the most important theoretical currents and approaches in the social sciences.

After this course students should:

  • realize that social reality can be studies from different perspectives;
  • realize that the used perspective or approach has an influence on the kind of observations  and on the kind of explanations one makes;
  • have an insight on the dominant perspectives or approaches in social sciences and be able to distinguish between these perspectives;
  • be able to interpret concret social-scientific research in terms of the dominant approaches in social sciences.

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Written Exam with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 100% of the final mark.
