Course Content

The course covers three topics.

  • A first part focuses on general concepts (including a discussion of cost behavior and cost-volume relationships) and decision making (marketing and producition decisions).
  • The second part examines the different ways of product costing (activity-based costing, job-costing systems, process-costing systems) and the problem of overhead allocation (variable and absorption costing).
  • The final part examines the accounting for planning and control. This part introduces the master budget and the use of flexible budgets and standards for control.

Learning Outcomes

General competencies

The objective of this course is to clearly present the basic concepts and techniques in management accounting and to recognize current trends.
The focus of the course is mainly the understanding of costs and cost behavior and the use of cost information for planning and control decisions.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Schriftelijk Examen Oefening with a relative weight of 50 which comprises 50% of the final mark.

First and second session:
