Course Content

The course content consists of individual labour law, parts of labour regulation, collective labour relationships, aspects of social security, both of employees and self-employed persons, as well as core concepts of social enforcement law including topics such as criminal enforcement. Attention is paid to the specificity of social law.

During the introductory lectures, attention is paid to the main features of social law. The links with other fields of law and the hierarchy of (social) law norms are also discussed.

Furthermore, attention is paid to various aspects of individual labour law, collective labour law and labour regulation. For example, the law governing individual employment agreements, the doctrine of collective labour agreements and the concepts of working time, overtime and overtime pay will be discussed.

The basic principles of Belgian social security and the main characteristics of its various components will also be discussed.
