- Course Content
As part of the studies in Movement and Sport Sciences, the master student has to fulfil an internship of at least 400 hours in his/her specialization. This means that the student will be occupied for at least 10 weeks full time. Within the specialization of sports policy and management, the student should perform an organizing or coordinating role within a sporting organization (i.e., analysis, planning, organization, implementation and evaluation). Internship positions and projects are chosen from the proposed list (pool of cases). Own proposals are possible if they fit into a personal development plan (POP) with a view to professional perspectives or objectives regarding the development of desired competencies.
Possible internships and assignments:
* the commercial sector (e.g., sports marketing companies, professional sports companies, organizers, tourism and recreation, sports accommodation)
- (assistance with) the organization of a sports event
- setting up / conducting a market / competitor analysis
* the public sector (e.g., Sport Vlaanderen, a municipal sports service)
- be responsible for organizing, managing and promoting new activities
- quality / needs assessment, evaluation research into the effectiveness of actions
* the private, non-commercial sports sector (e.g., sports federations, clubs)
- assisting with the reorganization of the board or the drafting of a policy memorandum
- preparation for and development of policy, marketing, promotion and / or other plans

The Master of Science in Movement and Sport Sciences:

- Additional info regarding evaluation
The final result of the course individual internship in sport management consists of a number of partial results. The assessment criteria and points distribution are communicated via Canvas. The student must achieve a result of at least 10/20 for all partial results. The partial results are automatically transferred to the second examination period if the result is at least 10/20. A student cannot opt out of the automatic transfer of the partial result.
