Course Content

INTRODUCTORY LECTURES AND EXCERCISES
- Introductory themes include: the cognitive behavioural therapeutic process; the therapeutic relationship, therapeutic protocols.
- Exercises on the behavioural diagnostic analyses (clinical case formulation, analysis of emotion and behaviour)
- Case selection (e.g., from the student placement/clinical internship)

THE CASE STUDY
- Supervision and intervision sessions on the case study.
- Written report of the first phases of the CBT process: anamnesis, case formulation, cognitive behavioural analyses and a proposal for evidence-based cognitive behavioural interventions 
in the case study.
- Oral presentation during a plenary session (role-playing: presenting the case before a CBT team)

Learning Outcomes

General competencies

This course is directed towards the practice of cognitive behavioural therapy and is based on the application of cognitive behavioural analyses and interventions within a case study:
1. Application of the behavioural diagnostic analyses (clinical case formulation, analysis of emotion and behaviour) on a clinical case
2. Proposal of therapeutic interventions based on the analyses and scientific research
3. A written report and a oral presentation of the cognitive behavioural case study.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
SELF Paper determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the SELF Paper category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Written report with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 50% of the final mark.

    Note: Assessment is based on the combination of the written report and the oral presentation of the cognitive behavioural case study in plenary sessions.
  • Oral presentation with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 50% of the final mark.
