Course Content

This course is a practical course.
The aim of this course is to familiarize the student with elementary statistical techniques, frequently used in scientific experiments.

Descriptive statistics
Elementary probability theory
Probability distributions
Central limit theorem
Parameter estimation, Confidence intervals and statistical tests (t-, F, chisquare, ..)
Linear regression and least squares

WPO
Written exercices and exercices using the statistical software SPSS.

Algemene competenties

The student is familiar with the basic concepts and techniques from the introductory statistics treated in this course. He can explain the introduced concepts and techniques.
The student can apply the introduced techniques to solve simple statistical problems. He is able to use a statistical software package.

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Other Exam determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the Other Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Examen andere with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 100% of the final mark.
