Course Content

The course approaches the concept of “globalization” from a variety of historical perspectives and uses different case studies. Students gain insights into the value of a “global” way of studying political, economic, social and cultural history. The case studies also contribute to a better understanding of long-term historical phenomena, the influence of intercultural contacts and the relationship between local developments and global dynamics.

-Students can understand the concept of “globalization” and distinguish historiographical trends within the historiography of globalization.
