Course Content

Learning to communicate in a multidisciplinary environment about: Discipline bound topics: • Empathetic attitude towards patient / family.

• Communication necessary to collect the relevant information and to form a clear picture of the situation, taking into account the life course of the patient, his cultural background, beliefs and major life events.

• Open attitude towards caregivers, team members and colleagues.

• Informed consent regarding treatment to patient and family, checking to what extent information was understood.

• Implementation of the possibilities for communication with less competent persons, rights of the family and what the communication possibilities are in case of incapacitated persons.

• Specific aspects of communication about therapy restrictive measures and the end of life.

• Communication and knowledge of specific aspects of the law on patient rights and legal aspects of incapacitated persons. The ASO must also function with increasing independence and complexity.

Teaching methods:

MOC: 1x / week 2 hours multidisciplinary oncological consultation

Evening seminar: 1x per month for 2 hours (once a year 25 hours for your own session)

Weekly tour: 1h / week

Daily debriefing: 1h / day
