The course treats the basic principles of multibody mechanics .
Different formulations of the equations of motion are discussed and compared . During the praticum the students will use a commercial MBM packet to study an mechanical problem .
This specialisation cours aims at acquainting the students with the skills and knowledge to study complex mechanical systems using multibody mechanics
To support the lessons a reference book is used. Transparancies used during the course are available to the students

Having in-depth knowledge and understanding of exact sciences with the specificity of their application to engineering : This specialization course aims at acquainting the students with in-depth knowledge, skills and understanding to study complex advanced mechanical systems using the principles of multibody mechanics.
Having in-depth knowledge and understanding of the advanced methods and theories to schematize and model complex problems or processes :This specialization course aims at acquainting the students with in-depth knowledge, skills and understanding complex numerical modelling proces mechanical systems using multibody mechanics software.
Having an in depth scientific knowledge, understanding and skills in at least one of the subfields needed to design, produce, apply and maintain complex mechanical, electrical and/or energy systems : the students obtain in-depth knowledge and understanding of complex numerical modelling and control processes of mechanical systems
Having an in-depth understanding of safety standards and rules with respect to mechanical, electrical and energy systems : the students obtain with in-depth knowledge and understanding of the safe dimensioning of mechanical systems
Can reformulate complex engineering problems in order to solve them (simplifying assumptions, reducing complexity) : The student will be able to formulate complex mechanical engineering problems in order to solve them (including simplifying assumptions, reducing complexity)
Can present and defend results in a scientifically sound way, using contemporary communication tools, for a national as well as for an international professional or lay audience : The student will present and defend the results of the practical assignment in a scientifically sound way, using a power point presentation for a jury.
Can collaborate in a (multidisciplinary) team : The practical assignment is accomplished in team. A critical attitude towards the validity of the results is expected.
