Course Content

Critical analysis of scientific studies and publications with special attention to the specific situation of elderly patients with pathology and polymedication.

Analysis of the added value and limitations of classic EBM (Evidence-Based Medicine).

Specific attention for structured data collection and use of large (observational) databases.

WORKING FORMS

Active presentation during the seminars: (at least 1 x / year) organized at the geriatrics department.

Active presentation at a conference: (at least 1 x / 3 years) in collaboration with staff members of geriatrics and / or department of gerontology.

Active participation in clinical studies with learning of study protocols, recruitment of study patients, informed consent procedure, strict follow-up of specific parameters, detection and reporting of possible side effects of study medication, communication with clinical research organizations (CROs). Regular training for good clinical practice (GCP).

Publication of case report, systematic review or own study results in collaboration with the gerontology department.

Elaborate own research protocol with CME application with a view of master's thesis.
