The theme of this course is hospitality. We will read texts by Immanuel Kant, Jacques Derrida, Michel Agier and Serena Parekh. Parekh's book 'Refugees and the Ethics of Forced Displacement' will be the focus.
Study materials will be provided on canvas.
- Students are familiar with philosophical debates on humanism, migration and hospitality
- Students can critically reflect on contemporary debates concerning human dignity in different areas and contexts
- Students understand the normative dimensions of professional care and are able to critically assess care practices.
The final grade is composed based on the following categories:

Continuous assessment: lecture preparation and participation in discussion (50%).
Oral final examination 50%.
